Court Rolls Transcribed

These details were discovered by the staff at Thornbury Museum who kindly sent me the transcription of a batch of court rolls for Thornbury Court Leet dating from the mid 18th century. They record John's time on the jury and the cases he observed. 20th October 1757 "And they further present John Gaynor and Jonathon Barton for throwing Sudds and other offensive things in Soapers Lane (it being a public nuisance to the inhabitants) and amerce in the sum of six shillings and eight pence each if not removed in one month from the date hereof."
