NATIONAL LIBRARY OF SCOTLAND [w] www.nls.uk
A good library site for Scottish heritage materials, including old and modern manuscripts, as well as old maps and books. There's no specific mention of genealogical resources, but there are interesting areas for historical research - wherever you are in the world - especially in the Digital Library area.
NATIONAL LIBRARY OF WALES [w] www.llgc.org.uk
This is another good library site, with the added bonus that the National Library of Wales is, in its own words, 'the principal centre for researching Welsh genealogy' - a billing it lives up to. It's clear and easy to use, offering researchers some guides to its resources kept at Aberystwyth, but there's little in the way of specific genealogical searchable indexes online. However, there are searchable.
NATIONAL LIBRARY OF IRELAND: A useful resource - there are similar organisations for Wales and Scotland
NATIONAL MARITIME MUSEUM [w] www.nmm.ac.uk
This extensive site offers a fine mix of manuscripts, photographs and digital representations of more than 4,000 items from the museum's water-related collections.
NATIONAL RAILWAY MUSEUM [w] www.nrm.org.uk
An interesting site for anyone researching a family member who's worked on the railways. Includes also a detailed guide to collections and resources held at the superb museum in York.
